Arushi got murdered in her room. That is clear. Her parents were asleep in the other bedroom. That is also clear. The blundering police messed up the clues. That is also clear. Every channel of the media had their own heroes and villains within a week of the murder. The public had it's share of vicarious titillations as provided by the media stories, and "re-constructions".
With each utterances of the bumbling, rustic investigators, a new conclusion was drawn. After 2 teams of from the famous UP Police brought up a new murderer every week, it was taken over by the famed CBI who also went along for the ride - giving our 400 odd channels many hours of software.
Ultimately, the CBI throws up it's hand saying they don't have any clues to convict anyone - which by popular perception now means it was a closed door affair, so the parents are responsible! And so, the court decides to charge them with murdering their daughter.
